Gelibolu Memorial Ltd. Sti. is the subsidiary of Gallipoli Memorial Club of Australia, Sydney, and is incorporated in Canakkale, Turkey.
The creed of the Company: “We believe that within the community there exists an obligation for all to preserve the special qualities of loyalty, respect, love of country, courage and comradeship which were personified by the heroes of the Canakkale Wars and bequeathed to all humanity as a foundation for perpetual peace and universal freedom”.
In accordance with this belief, The Gelibolu Memorial Ltd. Sti. is arranging the 2012 7th.Canakkale Art Prize, in memory of the Battles of 1915 Canakkale.. The results of the Canakkale Art Prize competition will be announced on 23 April 2012. This competition is open to all persons of 18 years of age and over, resident in the Turkish Republic, Australia and New Zealand.
Subject:
- The values of loyalty, respect, love of country, courage and comradeship which were personified by the heroes of the Canakkale Wars and bequeathed to all humanity as a foundation for perpetual peace and universal freedom.
Conditions:
- The competition is open to Turkish, Australian and New Zealand citizens, residing in the Turkish Republic.
- All entrants must be over the age 18. All submitted works must not have been previously entered in any other competition and must meet the standards of entry as stated below.
- Pre-registration of all entries is required prior to submission of artwork. Pre-registration forms will be available on the web site from 01 December 2011.
- The entry must be delivered at the competitor’s expense to the address specified on the registration form no earlier than 01 December 2011and no later than 18 March 2012.
- Judging of the competition will be conducted by the jury panel of 5 judges appointed by the Canakkale Art Prize Organizing Committee.
- The decisions of the Jury Panel will be final and no discussion on their decisions will be entered into.
- The entry that is selected for the award of First Prize will become the property of the Gallipoli Memorial Club Museum Fund Incorporated, Australia and may be sent to Australia for exhibition.
- Exhibition of the finalists may be held in Canakkale, Istanbul and Ankara.
- While the organisers will endeavour to ensure that all possible precautions are taken with the handling of paintings, no liability will be accepted by the organisers, the company or the Club for any loss or damages.
- The entries of competitors whose work is not selected for exhibitions will be returned immediately following judging by the competition courier company.
- Art selected for exhibition will be returned after the conclusion of exhibitions in Canakkale, Ankara and Istanbul.
- Cost for return of all artwork will be met by the competitor.
- Each competitor must agree and accept all of these conditions.
Entry Standards:
- All artworks including entries considered for the Governor’s, Ambassador’s and Rector’s Prizes must be produced within the content of the Competition’s subject: “The values of loyalty, respect, love of country, courage and comradeship which were personified by the heroes of the Canakkale Wars and bequeathed to all humanity as a foundation for perpetual peace and universal freedom”.
- The First Prize will be awarded to the eligible entry which the Jury Panel considers of most outstanding artistic merit exemplifying the principles established in the subject of the prize.
- The Governor’s Prize will be awarded to the eligible entry which the Jury Panel considers of most outstanding artistic merit exemplifying Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s words to the mothers of the Anzac Soldiers who fell on Turkish soil in 1915.
- The Ambassador’s Prize will be awarded to the eligible entry which the Jury Panel considers of most outstanding artistic merit exemplifying the message of peace.
- The Rector’s Prize will be open to university students only and will be awarded to the eligible entry which the Jury Panel considers of most outstanding artistic merit based on the same conditions as the First Prize.
- All entrants should submit only one piece of original work produced in oil or acrylic.
- The dimensions of each entry should not exceed 120cm x 120cm, and should not be less than 40cm x 40cm.
- All works must be ready for hanging and should not be framed.
- Entries not meeting any requirement will not be considered for judging.

- First prize: 12,000 YTL
- Acquisitive for the Gallipoli Memorial Club Club Museum Fund Inc.
Other prizes:
- Ambassador’s Prize: 1200 TL
- Governor’s Prize: 1200 YTL
- Rector’s Prize: 1200 TL
Jury:
- All paintings will be judged by a jury of five members.
